It should reverse and fold flat but does not. Otherwise ok.Great looking and functional easy for my clients to use.However…you do need to oil them to keep them from splintering. I’ve used and hand washed (not soaked) several times. The first few times, no issues. But now about every two washes and I use culinary safe oil, or coconut oil to keep the wood from drying out.Easy to use and cleanWhile it functions fine, the finish is rough and dry.I've been meaning to buy a pretty set of salad tongs forever, but it's one of those things that I never think about until I need them, which I did over the recent days of Christmas. It was too late to do anything about it when we wanted them, but after everyone went home, I came to Amazon to have a look around. I saw these and thought they were perfect. They arrived this morning, and I'm very happy with them.I love that they're made from a sustainable and renewable resource, the Acacia tree. Mine are a gorgeous dark color, which I just love. The spring mechanism is a mystery to me, I have no idea how it works, but it does! I think it's all in the brilliant cutting, shaping, and positioning of the two pieces because there's no sign of a metal spring that I can see. Of course that doesn't mean there isn't one, it could just mean that it's very well hidden.They're finished with a very smooth surface which is lovely to touch and hold in my hand. I can see where it would be nice if they folded flat, but I just put mine in a drawer that has extra space in it (yes, I have one of those, don't know how it happened) so it's not a problem for me.I would recommend these tongs to anyone who wants a pretty, well made, and functional set.They would have been a 5, but the finish on them was really rough wood. They needed a quick sanding with some #400 sandpaper and they were nice and smooth.(Suggestion to the maker....just give your product a finish sanding. It took me 5 minutes by hand, but in a factory you’re talking an extra 30 seconds on a sanding/polishing belt before oiling them.I like these salad tongs, they grip well and are easy to use. The only con is that they don't collapse fully (invert) for minimal storage space. Can't say yet how they'll hold up over timeThe tongs are a beautiful wood. It's light and feels quality when you hold it. The only drawback is that there is no way to keep the tongs closed up when it's not being used. I don't have this on display, so I put a rubber band around it to save space. I've seen other tongs though that have been more creative with the storage aspect where you can turn it around and it stays closed. For the price though, not a bad purchase but might have paid a little bit more for something else.The product had a large chunk of wood broken off but was in a sealed envelope without the broken piece of wood so it must have been like that when it was packedVery shoddy. I had to rub them with sandpaper. Not very attractive wood but there was an improvement when I rubbed oil into them. Having said that, they work pretty well.Not only did it arrive crazy fast it's absolutely stunning and well made. It's strictly sound and wide enough to even serve a filet in one piece without it falling apart! I plan to buy another I love it so much!Very nice cool tongs, bought for my mother and she loved them. Too bad they only lasted a couple weeks. NOT VERY STURDYThis is the second one I have bought for myself. We use them a lot for many dishes. Also bought one for my son for Christmas!
