I had purchased another more known slow feeder before this one and love it! It was only a couple dollars more so I really didn't think the quality would be that much different. I ordered this one because of the matching bowl and it couldn't hurt to have a backup food bowl. The food bowl is a joke. No weight to it at all, so even my tame lab, who has never once knocked the other slow food bowl over, knocked this thing over in seconds just trying to get the food out. I started giving 1 star but changed to 3 to be fair since I am using the water bowl and that's really what I wanted. Sad since that is a cheap afterthought and not why people would be ordering this. For little dogs this might be ok.My dog used to practically inhale/puke and eat again, her food. She is a rescue so I don't know how she developed her rapid eating style. She used to eat a scoop of food in about a minute. This bowl slowed her down quiet a bit. Takes her about 4 minutes now to finish her food. I wished it would slow her down more. She has a fairly narrow snout that fits well between the ridges. I am happy with the bowl and its held up well over the last few months.I ordered a medium and it was a lot smaller than expected but other than that my pit bull seems to eat maybe 30 sec.-1 min. slower which is really good. He's not scarfing down his food and then immediately throwing up anymore. I also changed his food so that probably had something to do with it. After a while, now that he's use to the bowl, he does eat a little faster than when I first got it but still slower than a regular dog bowl. So, if your looking for something to slow your dogs eating, I would give this a shot and I would say that the medium size bowl is 1-2 cups.We were having issues with our 9 year old mixed lab eating too fast and then throwing it all up. It did not happen all the time but enough to cause concern. We bought this bowl a couple of months ago and it has really, really slowed her down. She seems to be enjoying her breakfast and dinner more and she has not thrown up one time. The water bowl is a bit small for normal, everyday use because she is a 65 lb. dog. It is great however for travel. But the food bowl, perfect for her portions and a great find.I bought this for my 16 week old lab puppy. He would gobble down his food and then get sick. The bowl has slowed down his eating and he hasn't been getting sick. The medium size bowl holds about one cup of his puppy food. Getting the water bowl as a bonus was great too!We have an 8yr old dachshund that would gobble his food so fast that he would choke himself and then have trouble breathing. This dish stopped all of that. Now he eats at a normal pace. Chews his food slowly. The matching water bowl was nice and holds enough for all day.We would definitely recommend this bowl to anyone with the same problem eaters. This works very well. My Cairn terrier really wolfs down her food like every meal is her last. The obstacles in the Whoa Buddy bowl make it harder for her to reach the food. She has to push her snout between the obstacles to get at the food. She still eats too fast, but its a big improvement.ok
